Our 2022 FIlm Festival project is being planned! A year-long-rolling program for crew members to come and be part of producing 5 inspirational films across the year. Culminating in an end-of-year cinema viewing within the community, with workshops and exciting guest speakers!

A chance to be a REAL crew member, as a part of a filming crew, creating films that will inspire. Learn camera operations, production, sound & lighting, editing, social media and MUCH more!

Our team of professionals in their respective creative media-based career teach the basics in the following:

  • Film making

  • Photography

  • Editing film/photography

  • Creative writing & Storyboarding

  • Production research and story development

  • Additional social media and marketing training from the Joyful Academy

There will be a chance for each student to have 'hands on' experience with relative equipment such as:

  • Sound & lighting with boom operations

  • Professional editing software on a laptop based editing suite.

During each session or course, we ensure the following:

  • Wellbeing catch-up

  • One to One development

  • Outdoor/location projects

  • A chance to try every aspect

  • Be part of our steering group

  • The chance to exhibit work collectively in cinema's or art exhibition galleries.

On completion

A certificate and Oscar style trophy is presented at the end of the course upon successful completion in our HAFTA party! In 2022, this will be part of our big Film Festival where the community will be part of the party!

We also provide references upon completion of the course. Then the really exciting things begin in our Beyond Horizon opportunities! Where many students have gone on to study film further.

Beyond horizon

Several of our students this year went on to further training in film & photography at the Brighton Film School and  some have even gone in to shadow within professional media businesses in Brighton & Hove.

Above all, we want to show that a happy, healthy, sustainable recovery IS possible. With creative outlets, new skills and opportunities and stronger links to the recovery network, we want everyone to flourish in this safe, creative environment.

Building new found friendships, support one another and find creative outlets whilst enjoying our time, RIGHT HERE. Right now. Together.

Past students displayed their film & photography work at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2019 - in the Unframed Lives exhibition.

We were proudly shortlisted for the 2019 'Visual Arts Award'
